Create a Nautical Themed Space!

I have a slight obsession with all things nautical.

Nothing says summer to me like outfits of blue and white, stripes, gold jewelry, and mini anchors. It's classic and elegant and wonderfully preppy. It also works great for design. Here are some of my favorite pieces for this summer's nautical themed rooms.

1. ANTIQUE SEA MAPS
If you know me, you know that I love vintage maps, particularly those from the colonial and early America periods. These antique sea maps are equally awesome. Not only do they make great art, but they appeal to the history buff and are genuinely interesting to look out. From: www.antiquemaps-fair.com.

2. POTTERY BARN ROPE LAMP
How cool is this piece? It's so unique, and definitely sets a nautical tone to the room. Check it out at: www.potterybarn.com

3. ZAZZLE iPHONE COVER
Why not let your cell phone match the room? Blue chevron, navy blue anchor, and personalization. It's a bit pricey (about $45), but you can't beat the cute factor! Check out this and more nautical designs at: www.zazzle.com

4. JOHNATHAN ADLER WHALE BOOKENDS
It's the little things that can make a big statement. I love the bright white of the whale against the wooden base. Check it out at: www.nordstrom.com

5.  LAND OF NOD NAUTICAL PILLOWS
These are a steal, starting at only $20. I love the texture to them. Designed for a kids room, they could really work anywhere. Check it out: www.landofnod.com
